Nashville murals have gained quite the following over the past few years—in fact, mural hunting is one of the best things to do in Nashville!

Every mural has a unique style, and whether you love sports, music, or art—you’re sure to find a Nashville mural that appeals to you! However, there are dozens of murals in Nashville, and if you visited them all, you wouldn’t have any time to explore all the other fun things to do in the city.

During my recent trip to Nashville, I visited the most popular murals in the city, as well as a few hidden gems. I’ve included all the information about these murals below, including where to find them, posing tips, and more helpful information!

Nashville Murals Guide

1. What Lifts You – Wings

  • Address: 302 11th Ave. South Nashville, TN 37203
  • Neighborhood: The Gulch
  • Artist: Kelsey Montague

The “What Lifts You” Wings in the Gulch is arguably the most famous mural in all of Nashville! This mural is perfect for standing in front of for a photo. Just be prepared to stand in line—this mural attracts a crowd, especially if you’re visiting in the afternoon or evening!

Tip: At the bottom right corner of the mural, there is a miniature set of wings you can take a photo in front of sitting down. It’s also a perfect backdrop for kids and dogs!

2. I Believe in Nashville

  • Address: 2702 12th Ave. South Nashville, TN 37204
  • Neighborhood: 12 South
  • Artist: Adrien Saporiti

If there is another mural as famous as the “What Lifts You” Wings, it’s the I Believe in Nashville mural across the street from Draper James in 12 South. It’s an excellent backdrop for a trip to Nashville and a great way to capture the local spirit!

Tip: If you want to avoid the crowds at the 12 South location, there is a second ‘I Believe in Nashville” mural in Marathon Village, painted by the same artist.

3. Flowers

  • Address: 2900 12th Ave. South Nashville, TN 37204
  • Neighborhood: 12 South
  • Artist: Unknown

“Flowers” is another one of the most famous murals in the 12 South neighborhood. The elegance and simplicity of this mural makes a great backdrop for a beautiful photo. “Flowers” is located between Paris Avenue and Kirkwood Avenue, and it’s directly across from the “Make Music, Not War” mural.

4. Drippy Lips

  • Address: 1814 21st Ave. South Nashville, TN 37212
  • Neighborhood: Hillsboro Village
  • Artist: Donald “Drawbertson” Robertson

The “Drawbertson Drippy Lips” mural is one of the best murals in Nashville! It makes for a super cute backdrop and is near tons of great shopping and popular places to eat, like Biscuit Love and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. You’ll find the mural in an alleyway between Belcourt Avenue and Acklen Avenue. It’s hard to miss!

5. Looking Pretty, Music City

  • Address: 2709 12th Ave. South Nashville, TN 37204
  • Neighborhood: 12 South
  • Artist: Emily Eisenhart

“Looking Pretty, Music City” is another popular mural in Nashville’s 12 South neighborhood. It’s just down the street from the “I Believe in Nashville” mural, and it’s on the side of Madewell. I love the fun pastel colors and the tribute to Nashville’s nickname—Music City!

Tip: To get this shot, you’ll need to set up your camera on the other side of the street and wait for the cars to pass. The mural is large, so if you don’t cross the road, you won’t be able to get all of it in one photo.

6. Nashville Looks Good on You

  • Address: 2511 12th Ave. South Nashville, TN 37204
  • Neighborhood: 12 South
  • Artist: TheNash.TN

“Nashville Looks Good on You” is another famous mural in 12 South (are we sensing a theme?). It’s located right behind the Frothy Monkey, a popular coffee shop in 12 South, so it’s easy to find. I recommend shooting from an angle to get all the letters in the photo, as I did below! It’s also nice that this mural is so minimalist. It will match whatever you are wearing!

7. HearThisNashville

  • Address: 901 Gleaves St. Nashville, TN 37203
  • Neighborhood: The Gulch
  • Artist: Unknown

I stumbled upon the “HearThisNashville” mural while looking for another mural in the Gulch, so I think it’s newer, but I’m so glad I found it! This is a fun mural to pose in front of because you can pretend to be singing into the microphone. Just put another person on the end of the ear to “listen,” and you have a super fun photo!

8. Make Music, Not War

  • Address: 2902 12th Ave. South Nashville, TN 37204
  • Neighborhood: 12 South
  • Artist: Relax Max Apparel

The “Make Music, Not War” is a super simplistic mural that, as I mentioned earlier, is right across from the “Flowers” mural. I love the greenery that drapes over the top and frames this mural. It’s a great tribute to Nashville’s vibrant music culture.

9. Draper James

  • Address: 2608 12th Ave. South Nashville, TN 37204
  • Neighborhood: 12 South
  • Artist: Unknown

The “Blue & White Wall” mural at Draper James is right across from the “I Believe in Nashville” mural, so it’s really easy to see these two simultaneously. You can pose on the bench in front of the window, like my picture below, or pose in front of the blue and white striped wall.

Tip: This mural doesn’t have much shade, so try to visit in the morning or evening when the sun isn’t at its brightest for the best photo.

10. What Lifts You – Hot Air Balloon

  • Address: 1034 West Eastland Ave. Nashville, TN 37206
  • Neighborhood: East Nashville
  • Artist: Kelsey Montague

The “What Lifts You” Hot Air Balloon is one of the most fun murals in Nashville—and it’s even 3D! You can hop into the basket to “fly away” on the hot air balloon, and the basket is big enough for a few people to fit inside.

Tip: This mural is created by the same artist as the “What Lifts You” Wings, but it doesn’t get nearly as much attention. Don’t miss this awesome mural while you’re in Nashville!

About the Author

Hi, I'm Brit! I'm a writer from Phoenix, AZ who loves coffee, golden retriever puppies, and obviously, travel! I help ordinary women (like me!) dream, plan, and do extraordinary travel experiences.

  • Nashville has some of the preetiest murals! Loved that you included the popular and whole in the wall murals as well. Funny enough, my post I’m linking below is about Nashville. 🙂

  • Murals are so cool nowadays I always love how they make the cities brighter. I love the hot air balloon one! Nashville seems so hip, thank you for sharing!

  • Nashville is one of my FAVORITE places in the US! I love doing the mural tours when I travel during the holidays and things are closed. We did the Nashville Murals on New Year’s Day and it was PERFECT because there weren’t any crowds (especially on the popular “wings” mural). Thanks so much for sharing!!

  • Love Nashville! One of my favorite places to get tacos is next to Draper James (BarTaco). I definitely need to see a few more of these murals on my next visit.

  • Nashville seems like such a fun town! I’d only ever seen the famous wings mural mentioned in posts about Nashville, so it’s fun to see there are lot more out there!

  • This is so cool! I’ve spent a lot of time in Nashville but never thought to go on a mural hunt. This will definitely be my next go to thing when I’m back in the city!

  • I’ve heard soooo much about Nashville’s murals – if I could only go to one place in the US I’d probably head right here and just for this!

  • I love this post so much! I’m a huge fan of murals in general, but these from Nashville are so beautiful! I especially love the Hot Air Balloon one! Thank you for sharing! Another reason to add this place to my bucket list!

  • I love street art so much! Each mural looks truly unique, but my favorite is probably “What Lifts You” – Wings and Hot Air Balloon by Kelsey Montague

  • Very, very cool. I love these murals. I have been to Nashville a few times, but have never seen these. I particularly love the ‘What lifts you – Wings’ and ‘ Make Music, Not War’. I will definitely be on the lookout for them the next time I visit Nashville.

  • OMG I love them all!! What a fantastic way to get people to explore the city and share their photos across social media. I think my favourite is the Hot Air Balloon – interactive always gets my vote. Great post!

  • I love street art so these big murals are a thrill to me. I love the flowers although the wings are so large that they are my favourite.

  • I love, love, LOVE street art and wall murals. I had no idea that Nashville had so much of it! THANK YOU for including the addresses. It’s so frustrating trying to find street art when all you know is the area of town to look in!

  • Hello Brittany, I love that you are shining light on the city’s public art by showing off the murals around town. My question is what choices were made to choose the ones you chose? With so many wonderful murals in North (Norf) Nashville, why weren’t any of those highlighted? Given that the Frist Art Museum had a whole exhibit on the collection. There may be visitors to our fair city who will come across your post and will think that this is all there is to see and miss out on some truly fantastic art. The Jimi Hendrix mural is one that comes to mind.

    • Hello, Carlton! Thank you for your comment. I only had a limited amount of time in Nashville and wanted to highlight the murals I had the chance to visit and see. I hope I will be able to visit some of the murals in North Nashville next time I am in the city!
